Ingredients
knife and chopping board, scales and measuring jug, 3l saucepan, grater, wooden spoon, large breakfast bowls
Method

For more than 2 servings, first divide all displayed ingredient totals into separate batches of no more than 2. Use each batch’s share of the displayed amounts in its own equipment. Core and grate apple; reserve quarter of it and 10g raisins for topping.

Put oats and 350ml milk in a 3l saucepan, with all measured water, over medium heat and stir for 1 minute.

Bring gently to a simmer, stirring, then cook for 6–8 minutes until the rolled oats soften and the mixture thickens. Follow a longer packet time if needed; porridge thickens further as it stands.

Stir in remaining three quarters of apple and 30g raisins for the final minute.

Divide between bowls for this batch. Add optional milk in 15ml increments up to 30ml total if needed. Finish with all honey and reserved apple and raisins.
