Method

Slice the banana, then mash half of it so it sweetens the oats evenly.

Put the oats and milk in a saucepan over a medium heat, then stir for 1 minute until evenly mixed.

Simmer for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring often, until the oats are creamy and thick enough to briefly hold a spoon trail.

Stir through most of the banana and cocoa powder for the final minute so the fruit warms but keeps some texture.

Spoon into bowls, loosen with a splash of milk if needed, then finish with honey and the reserved banana slices and a dusting of cocoa.
